another shoe one - shoes during business trips...

sop sop sop, I need someone to feel sorry for me. I went to play billiard and twisted my knee :-( I have absolutely no idea how I did this. So now the only shoes I can wear are my black flats that are soooo boring. Do not get me wrong, they are very comfy and I love them as they were a Xmas present from my favourite person in the whole wide world, but still sooo boring.

I initially took 3 pairs of shoes with me for 3 weeks, but I can not wear my snow boots at work, and now neither the heels. Which would all not be a problem if I had not bought the amazing amount of 4 pairs of shoes in the last 2 weeks here. The brogue boots I talked about in the last post, but I added sparkly converse and high top converse, as well as a nice pair of beige flats to the collection. The collection that is nicely arranged in the entrance of my hotel room, but not on my feet as either totally inappropriate for work, or clashing with the boring work color pallette I am wearing*

I bought sparkly laces and plaid laces and other laces at the converse outlet shop, where I finally found the Ox sequins as well that I was trying to hound down all last summer. So despite the resolution to not submit to the shoe shopping addiction, I succumed one final time. Converse Haven!

I am still not sure where the obsession with chucks comes from. I always always had one pair of high top red ones (which is actually not accurate, I started wearing those after my last pair of high school doc martins died), but in recent years it has increased multifold. Has their selection increased or just gotten more interesting. But then again my love for shoes has increased multifold in line with my increasing salary and exposure to Amaaazing shoes. I am home sick for a home I no longer have... oh well, time to wrap this trip up, go home and add these shoes to my new shoe rack that is already reaching 150% capacity, and ice my knee once again

* I love the local IT guys, love love love them. They color schemed today and wore purple tops. I so wanted to join them, but spilled stuff over my purple dress yesterday night. But tomorrow we do blue and it is casual Friday and I am flying back so I can wear my blue tshirt and join - and wear my sparkly shoes with my sparkly black laces - I have to be allowed, I work for a company that produces Bling Bling

She-Ra

I have since a couple of days the comment: "She-Ra I am not" on my g-talk. I am not sure where it came from, I think from the fact of not having super powers, i.e. that I can not do everything, but not sure. It does not change the fact that I like it as comment, so I want to follow it up with a picture and the statement that I would so go and see the live action adaptation of it. Why is there none in production yet? Everything else is getting a live action adaptation...

I had that film, I am sure... I have some childhood memory of it. Actually, no, I had the music tape with the spoken dialogue of the movie that was included with the little She-Ra doll I had. I wonder how old I was then. mmmmmh?

Plaid and other things

First off, sad sad update, I did not get my Comicon tickets... I was sledging at full speed down a mountain when they came out, and thus not online enough to battle the refresh butting to secure these. Oh well, there is always next year, but I will nevertheless go to Vegas despite the VERY IMPORTANT SAP work date...

In order to compensate for that sadness in my life, I went shophappy in Boston this weekend (despite the cold) and may I declare that Newbury Street rocks big time (and also has a quite gobsmacking moneyabsorbing capacity). I have somehow rediscovered my long lost love for plaid. Lost for 15 years may I say - aah the long past times of doc martins, colored laces, and long plaid shirts over ripped jeans... Now I bought black ladies brogues/boots, put in colored red plaid laces, combined it with a pair of nice unripped opaque black tights and a red plaid shirt dress, and enjoyed the new updated grown up look of my teenagehood. Good times.

But still can not deal with the belted look around the shirt dress, despite buying a quite nice belt that I actually like in itself. But the whole thing it does to my hips, I can not stand, and thus I would fiddle and fiddle and fiddle with it while being out and about. The same way one worries a loose tooth until it goes, I would do that to the belt. Same reason I can not deal with having my hair open and not in a pony tail. I am always so jealous of people that can keep their nervous ticks at bay to maintain the integrity of a look...

Anywho, plaids... What to do, keep it down to one look and bring it up on occassion? Go the full monty and get some more? Am I too late on this particular bandwagon as the cool Fashion pics all seems from some seasons ago? The fashion choices are once again vast...

One last note: I would totally wear the top right red plaid dress...

cooooooooooooomics

Only a couple more days and I can buy my ComiCon tickets. The site has been an open tab in my chrome now for 2 months as I do NOT want to miss the sale. I will buy the ticket straight when I am back from skiing, and before I pack for 3 weeks snowy Rhode Island. And when I am back from the business trip to snow-hell I will finally get back again a subscription to Spirou magazine and indulge again in Belgian and French comics, my official starter drug into Nerdism.

I am still trying to pretend at my new work that I am only nerdy when it comes to processes and SAP, but I am slipping. I think the fact that I keep saying hello, please and goodbye in either Korean or Japanese, that I have a huge cartoon character as my screen saver and have more gadgets in my handbag then is healthy for my posture gives it away... or the fact that I refuse to budge my July weekend trip to San Diego one iota due to the above mentioned ticket despite a VERY IMPORTANT system change at work.

But before I hype myself up again about something months off, I am going to tackle some more sorting the new flat, icing my old lady knees so skiing will be fun on the weekend and some more staring at the heaps and heaps of shoes in my clothes room (it is a clothes room! not a walking in cupboard, but a clothes room). I bought a quite cool shoe rack, but due to noise restrictions and the need to bang nails into the wall to fix it, it has been half build for a week now with shoes nicely fanned around it. I LOVE shoes, but the only ones I wear at the moment are very comfy Rubber Duck Snowboots, and 3 weeks snow-hell won't increase the likelihood of breaking out my heels. Poor poor neglected heels, first 5 weeks in transit, then 3 weeks in a carton in my flat, and now I ignore them...

I wish there were little household gnomes that would sort the rest of the flat in my absence. That would be so convenient. On that note, I am seriously considering to buy one of those round hoover robots that run around and hoover all the time. Do they count as household gnomes? Do they even work? I need to read the Amazon reviews, me thinks.

Ah, I love being able to obsess about such trivial things. Isn't life grand?
